Hello from Lt. Col. Roberts!
I wanted to get an updated briefing out to the CAP families so they know what to expect as far as moving forward during the Covid restrictions as well as dealing with quarantines within the school. Our mission is to keep on challenging and educating cadets no matter the circumstances. We are determined to reach every cadet to keep them motivated and engaged in the program. We will follow all policies set forth by our board but we will find creative ways to keep pushing forward. Please remember Civil Air Patrol is by design to be an online program with many waivers for in person testing. Our instructors will be arranging in person PT tests and drill tests during break to allow your cadets opportunity to promote. Encourage your cadets to move, to exercise, to get out and away from the electronics.
CAP Meetings are suspended per order of the Wing Commander until further notice
Blues Uniform
All Blues Uniforms were ordered today. My 6th grade cadets will most likely have to buy a pair of blue slacks due to the adult sizes offered by VanGuard will just not tailor down to a decent fit and the cost will be excessive. We will not require cadets to wear the Blues uniform until February 2021 due to many uniforms being on order. So please take this time to clean and make any alterations necessary for those cadets that already have their uniform.
Flying
Cadet flying is suspended due to Covid 19 restrictions but we hope that will be lifted in January 2021
Promotion Ceremony
We are diligently working on the promotion list. We hope to publish that list today. If your cadet is not on the promotion list there is most likely a reason. Check grades; if there are any failing grades they will not promote, if there are any behavior issues they will not promote. We take direct feedback from teachers and will not promote a cadet that is not recommended by their teachers.
Honor Guard
Honor Guard practice will resume at the discretion of the Honor Guard coach. Cadets will be notified by their team captain.
Helicopter Rides
We are sending up a select number of cadets to ride in helicopters on 16 Dec. The cadet selection is based on grades, behavior teacher recommendation. Selection will be finalized Monday so if your cadets are interested they need to make sure grades are good! This is not an official CAP function and Covid precautions will be in place.
