Board Member
Chris Starkus is from Santa Clarita, California. He is a food & beverage professional with over twenty-five years of industry experience. In that time, he has achieved numerous awards; including “Best New Restaurant 2018 (303 Magazine) and Best Eco-Friendly Restaurants in America (opentable.com, April 2019). In 2019, ColoradoBiz Magazine named him one of Denver’s Most Influential Young Professionals (Top 25 Under 40).
Chris is passionate about local sourcing and farm-to-table sourced cuisine. He and his wife Diana owned and operated their own farm (Lost Creek Micro Farm) for four years starting in 2017 in Lakewood, Colorado. Chris has been beekeeping for ten years and is a Journeyman Beekeeper. He started the rooftop apiaries at the Nines Hotel in downtown Portland, Oregon and the Oxford Hotel in Denver, Colorado. He also has contributed essays and appearances on a sustainable food & beverage lifestyle to 303 Magazine, themoderneater.com, 5280 Magazine, Heritage Radio and Slow Food Nations.
Chris Starkus is a member of the Pike Peak Mycological Society, loves to forage for wild
mushrooms in the mountains, fish, road and mountain bike, and simply be outdoors. He has been married for 19 years to his wife Diana and they have two children. Chris truly lives the modern sustainable lifestyle through his work bringing the whole community to the culture of transparency, eco-conscious eating and local sourcing. His approach to management favors authenticity, clear communication and transparency.
