Vaping Prevention & Education
Committed to the Health and Well-Being of Our Students
At Colorado Military Academy, we prioritize the health and safety of our students, ensuring they are equipped to make informed decisions that positively impact their lives and futures. As a recipient of the Vaping Prevention Education Grant (VPEG), we are actively implementing programs to address and prevent the use of vaping products among our students.

Vaping involves inhaling aerosolized substances, often containing nicotine or THC, through an electronic device such as e-cigarettes or vape pens. These products are marketed as safer alternatives to smoking but pose significant health risks, especially for youth. Studies show vaping can harm brain development, lead to nicotine addiction, and expose users to harmful chemicals.
Thanks to the support of the VPEG grant, CMA is dedicated to combating the rise of youth vaping through the following initiatives:
Education Programs: Integrating evidence-based curriculum into our classrooms to teach students about the risks of vaping, including its impact on physical and mental health.
Parent and Community Resources: Hosting workshops and providing informational materials to help families recognize the signs of vaping and engage in meaningful conversations with their children.
Support for Students: Offering counseling and intervention services for students who may already be using vaping products or are at risk.
Peer Leadership and Advocacy: Empowering students to become advocates for a vape-free community through leadership programs and student-led campaigns.
We encourage our school community to remain vigilant and informed about the dangers of vaping. From deceptive marketing to flavored products targeting young people, vaping poses a unique threat to today’s youth. Together, we can create a safe, healthy environment for all students.
Visit the FDA's Vaping Prevention and Education hub for resources for parents, students, and teachers.
Together, we are committed to building a stronger, healthier future for every CMA student.
