Universal Preschool (UPK)
Universal Preschool at CMA
Give Your Child a Strong Start at Colorado Military Academy!
Colorado Military Academy (CMA) proudly participates in Colorado’s Universal Preschool Program (UPK), offering up to 15 free hours per week of high-quality preschool for children in the year before kindergarten. Additional free hours may be available based on eligibility and funding.
Our program provides a nurturing and structured environment that fosters leadership, creativity, and foundational academic skills.
15 Free Hours Weekly: All eligible children qualify for free preschool hours.
Additional Hours: Families may qualify for more free hours or may choose to pay for extra hours beyond UPK funding.
High-Quality Learning: CMA’s preschool program provides a structured, engaging environment designed to support early childhood development.
Each year, families can apply for UPK during the designated enrollment period. The process includes:
Pre-Registration for Continuity of Care
Families eligible for pre-registration include those who:
Wish to continue with the same provider from the previous year (Continuity of Care).
Have a sibling currently attending CMA or are children of CMA employees.
Eligible families must submit their applications during the pre-registration window and confirm placement when matched.
Registration for Children with IEPs
Children with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) may apply for UPK at any time throughout the school year. Placement is coordinated by the Special Education Administrative Unit (AU) in collaboration with the Colorado Department of Early Childhood (CDEC).
Applications open before general registration.
Placement assignments begin early in the year and continue as needed.
General Family Registration
Families not eligible for pre-registration can apply during general registration.
The matching process occurs in multiple rounds, and families will be notified when they are matched with a provider.
Families must confirm their placement within the required timeframe to secure their child’s spot.
To ensure placement, families are encouraged to apply as early as possible during the open registration period.
Visit the Colorado Universal Preschool Program Website to learn more and complete your application.
