"I am Lori Gardner and I have been employed at Colorado Military Academy for 5 years. Before I came to this amazing school, I was teaching in a local district and was horrified by how the public school system works. I was not able to teach the way I have for so many years and the students were not getting their emotional needs met. It was extremely difficult to find time to build relationships that are so necessary for student success. I was given the opportunity to come to CMA during the summer of 2020, in the height of the pandemic. This was perfect for me as I knew coming back to school after a long absence was going to take its toll on the children and I could not wait to be in a place where I was allowed to comfort and care about the children I would be working with. CMA has been supportive, accepting, and appreciative of my teaching style as well as my other quirks and sense of humor! I felt completely at home on my first day and every day since then. As I draw closer to my retirement I know that I don’t want to ever teach anywhere else and will finish my career at CMA. As an employee, I feel fortunate to work here. As a teacher and mentor to the many students I have worked with, I believe there is no finer place for them to grow, learn, and build confidence than here with this staff and this school.
