Elementary (Kindergarten – Grade 6)
Elementary Program (Kindergarten - Grade 6)
Welcome to the Colorado Military Academy Elementary Program!
At Colorado Military Academy (CMA), our Elementary Program for Kindergarten through 6th grade provides a strong academic foundation through the Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA) curriculum, enriched by supplemental resources to meet the needs of all learners. With a focus on leadership, aerospace education, and hands-on learning, we inspire students to excel academically, socially, and personally.
1. Comprehensive Curriculum
Our CKLA curriculum ensures a strong foundation in reading, writing, history, and science, while supplemental resources enhance learning with innovative, real-world applications. This balanced approach equips students with knowledge and skills for lifelong success.
2. Leadership and Character Development
Leadership principles are integrated into daily lessons and activities, teaching students the values of respect, responsibility, and teamwork. These skills lay the groundwork for future success as leaders and responsible citizens.
3. Early Exposure to Civil Air Patrol
Starting in 6th grade, students are introduced to the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) program, where they learn about aviation, aerospace, and leadership principles. This exposure prepares them for the opportunity to formally join CAP in 7th grade.
4. STEAM Integration
Our state-of-the-art STEAM lab and project-based learning activities encourage critical thinking and creativity. Students participate in hands-on experiments, coding, robotics, and engineering challenges to deepen their understanding of core concepts.
5. Aerospace and Aviation Focus
CMA’s unique emphasis on aerospace education brings exciting opportunities for students to learn about flight, space exploration, and the science behind aviation. Activities such as model rocket building and lessons from aerospace professionals ignite curiosity and inspire dreams.
6. Individualized Learning Support
CMA’s small class sizes allow educators to tailor instruction to meet each student’s needs. Whether through enrichment activities or targeted interventions, our program ensures all students are supported in reaching their full potential.
7. Farm-to-Table and Sustainability Education
Our farm-to-table lunch program and school garden teach students about nutrition, sustainability, and the importance of environmental stewardship.
CMA offers a variety of enrichment opportunities to complement classroom learning, including:
- Clubs and Activities: Robotics, art, music, and more.
- Field Trips: Visits to museums, science centers, and historical landmarks.
- Community Engagement: Service projects to foster empathy and social responsibility.
At CMA, we prioritize creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where students can grow academically, emotionally, and socially.
