CMA utilizes a variety of assessment tools to evaluate and enhance student learning:
- Formative Assessments: Ongoing classroom-based evaluations to monitor progress and guide instruction.
- Summative Assessments: End-of-unit or term assessments to measure student understanding and mastery.
- State-Mandated Testing: CMA complies with all Colorado Department of Education testing requirements, including CMAS (Colorado Measures of Academic Success) and PSAT/SAT exams.
- Performance-Based Assessments: Project-based and hands-on evaluations to demonstrate practical application of skills and knowledge.
We prioritize tracking individual student progress to identify strengths and address areas of improvement:
- Growth Monitoring Tools: Programs like NWEA MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) assessments are used to measure academic growth throughout the year.
- Personalized Learning Plans: Data from assessments informs individualized plans to help students meet their goals.
- Classroom Data Analysis: Teachers regularly analyze classroom data to adjust instruction and provide targeted interventions.
Our school is dedicated to fostering a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement:
- Grade-Level Performance Metrics: We measure and report on grade-level proficiency in core subjects, including reading, writing, math, and science.
- Civil Air Patrol Program: Secondary students have opportunities to excel in leadership, aviation, and aerospace-related fields.
- Recognition of Achievement: CMA celebrates student successes through awards, ceremonies, and public recognition of academic and extracurricular accomplishments.
Colorado Military Academy (CMA) respects the rights of parents and guardians to opt their children out of state-mandated assessments, such as the Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS).
If you are considering opting your child out, detailed instructions, including the required opt-out form and submission process, will be provided ahead of each testing cycle. For assistance or questions, please contact your student’s teacher or the school administration.
We encourage parents and guardians to stay involved in their child’s academic journey:
- Review Assessment Reports: Regularly review your student’s performance reports and reach out to teachers with questions.
- Encourage Consistent Attendance: Attendance is crucial to academic success.
- Participate in School Events: Engage in parent-teacher conferences, CPAT (CMA Parents and Teachers) meetings, and workshops to stay informed.
